There have been some final attempts to launch a Chelsea transfer deal this week as it gets to the crucial stages of any deal.

Nothing has really sparked up yet between Chelsea and Benfica for Joao Felix to return to his former club, but there has been a lot of noise about it coming out of the Portuguese media in the last couple of weeks.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea start talks to sign Premier League centre back this week!

So is there anything actually happening here or not? The mainstream media other than in Portugal are yet to really report much on this one and it’s always seemed quite far-fetched to me.

I don’t think Benfica will pay anywhere near the fee wanted by Chelsea and he will also demand lucrative wages. Can Benfica really afford to sign him? It seems like he is keen to go back to his former club yet just how much he wants to do so, I guess time will tell.

One last attack

As you can see from their front page today, Portuguese media outlet Record are reporting that Benfica are set to launch a final attack for Joao Felix and hope to close the deal this week. The transfer would be around 20-25 million euros for 50% of his rights.

It’s difficult to see Chelsea accepting that small amount for Felix seeing as they basically paid double that for him. I don’t know that there is much in this for now.
