‘Serious deficiencies in management’ – Jean-Michel Aulas responds to Corrine Diacre’s criticism | OneFootball

Jean-Michel Aulas has responded to Corrine Diacre’s comments in L’Équipe, that had accused him of being instrumental in her sacking as manager of the France women’s team.

Diacre had said that her dismissal was influenced by Aulas becoming a more influential figure within the French Football Federation, claiming that “The dice were loaded from the start.”

This was because she claimed that she and the former Olympique Lyonnais president and now vice president in the FFF had a tense relationship due to him wanting her to pick more Lyon players in her national team setup. “I didn’t do what [Aulas] wanted, what he expected regarding the players at his club. I managed the France team.”

Aulas has now responded to state that he played no part in her sacking and that she was let go after the “Conclusions of an audit” that he had no role within, and which had found “Serious deficiencies in management, having led to strong tensions between the players and the manager, as well as with all of her staff who were carefully questioned.”

The vice president continued, “The management of Corrine Diacre has also led to an unprecedented situation in the history of women’s football, forcing the best French players to refuse to play… just a few months before the 2023 World Cup.”

It appears as if there will be no detente between the two key figures in French football as their relationship continues to be played out in the public forum.
