Venezia and Como shared the spoils in a chaotic match, not helped by inclement weather conditions, including Gaetano Oristanio scoring directly from the corner flag.
This was a pure relegation dogfight between two of the bottom three, separated by three points going into the weekend. The Lagunari had lost four on the bounce and were missing Alfred Duncan, with Jesse Joronen returning to the bench. Cesc Fabregas had three draws in the last eight rounds, with Maxi Perrone, Sergi Roberto and Alberto Moreno injured.
The conditions were dismal, with heavy rain, cold and above all gale-force winds at 70km/h making it extremely difficult for both teams.
Gabriel Strefezza forced a flying save from Filip Stankovic in the opening minutes, but Venezia took the lead with a bit of good fortune.
The Hans Nicolussi Caviglia snapshot from distance seemed to be under control until it hit Joel Pohjanpalo’s ankle and the deflection completely wrong-footed Pepe Reina. He was being kept onside by Marco Sala.
A Nico Paz effort was deflected too, but Stankovic managed to acrobatically flap it away, as Como equalised in bizarre circumstances after the restart.
The wind and rain moved a cross mid-air after a corner, so Antonio Candela got the clearance all wrong and shinned it into his own net.

Como really should’ve turned it around moments later when Fadera went on the counter to set up Gabriel Strefezza, but the angled drive was incredibly wide of the far post.
Pepe Reina was alert to push a Pohjanpalo low strike round the base of the near stick, but Como did take the lead soon after.
Ignace van der Brempt ran down the right and pulled back from the by-line for Andrea Belotti to sweep in first-time from six yards.
It was wide open, Strefezza charging down a Nicolussi Caviglia strike and Marc Kempf making a sensational sliding tackle as Gaetano Oristanio was pulling the trigger from seven yards.
Venezia got back on level terms from the resulting corner, which Oristanio managed to swing directly into the far top corner, taking advantage of the conditions to surprise Reina.
Nicolussi Caviglia’s ferocious free kick tested Reina, then beat the veteran goalkeeper with a screamer from outside the box. However, that 88th-minute goal was disallowed because Pohjanpalo was offside and interfering with play, prompting Kempf to lay it off into his path.
