Inter celebrated a narrow victory in Saturday’s Serie A Milan derby to pile more misery upon their city rivals. While AC Milan are languishing in the bottom half of the Serie A table, Roma remain in top spot after they squeezed past Fiorentina.

Let’s round up all the action from the final round of results before the international break.

Como 0-0 Pomigliano

Matchday nine got off to a rather underwhelming start, as Como and Pomigliano played out a goalless affair. After controlling possession for the majority of the contest, the hosts nearly made their dominance count when Julia Karlernäs struck the upright in the 89th minute.

Como ultimately had to settle with a draw, which extended their winless run to three matches. Meanwhile, Pomigliano will be content with the result, having picked up four points from their last two games.

Inter 1-0 AC Milan

Milan experienced Serie A derby day disappointment at the hands of Inter in their first game since Maurizio Ganz was relieved of his head coach duties. Davide Corti, who stepped up from his role with the Primavera side, had hoped to get off to a positive start.

After playing out a goalless first period, Inter upped the ante in the second period, hitting the woodwork on two occasions. Their hard work was finally rewarded in the 72nd minute when Michela Cambiaghi scored what proved to be the decisive goal. A short corner was played to Andrine Tomter, who whipped in an inviting delivery for Camiaghi to head home.

After claiming the bragging rights, Inter will go into the international break in fourth place in Serie A, while Milan are in sixth position with nine points to their name.

Roma 2-1 Fiorentina

Roma came through a tricky test against Fiorentina to maintain their 100 percent start to the Serie A season. Giada Greggi opened the scoring with a stunning long-range effort which clipped the inside of the post before nestling in the net. Miriam Longo hit back within five minutes, utilising her neat footwork to create the room to fire in off the upright.

After going into the break on level terms, the reigning champions restored their lead on the hour mark. Benedetta Glionna cut inside from the right flank, before driving a low strike into the bottom corner. With the visitors unable to find a response, they ultimately fell to their second defeat of the Serie A season.

Napoli 1-3 Juventus

Juventus remain three points behind Roma after they came from behind to beat basement side Napoli on Sunday. Valentina Gallazzi fired the hosts into a surprise 12th-minute lead, neatly slotting home from Gina Chmielinski’s driven cross.

Despite going behind, Juventus still managed to complete a turnaround before half-time. Arianna Caruso restored parity just after the 30-minute mark, before she kept her cool from the penalty spot to register her second goal of the afternoon. Juventus eventually added a third in stoppage time when Lindsey Thomas tapped in from close range.

Sampdoria 0-4 Sassuolo

Sassuolo rounded off matchday nine with a dominant performance against Sampdoria. Loreta Kullashi pounced on a rebound to get her side up and running in the 17th minute. The 24-year-old then turned provider, standing the ball up for Lana Clelland to head home her first goal of the season.

Kullashi went on to make a quick start to the second period, netting her second and Sassuolo’s third within 30 seconds of the restart. The Swedish forward wrapped up a memorable performance in the 55th minute, slotting the ball past Amanda Tampieri to complete her hat-trick. As a result of the win, Sassuolo leapfrogged Sampdoria into seventh position.
