Valon Behrami hints that expectations on Juventus may be too high due to the team’s inexperience but feels Thiago Motta ‘delegitimized’ two ‘champions.’
Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw by Serie A strugglers Parma on Wednesday. The Bianconeri are now fourth in the Serie A table, seven points below leaders Napoli.
Thiago Motta benched Kenan Yildiz for the second consecutive match, a decision that ex-Serie A midfielder Behrami expected.
“Honestly, I did. There is a micro-management for each player,” the ex-Napoli star told DAZN.
“Obviously, you can do something like this with a young team. The footballers need a teacher to become top players.
“That being said, if you want to achieve great results, you need champions,” continued Behrami.
“Motta has two or three champions, but he’s delegitimized them both. Douglas Luiz is unfit but hasn’t been involved much since the start. Then it’s Danilo. Right now, he’s not in shape. He’s judged in every game, and he’s often nervous.
“If this is the strategy, it’s okay. Building a team with young players is okay, but then you have to lower expectations.”
