Goals from Ivan Perišić and Joaquín Correa charged Inter to a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria in the final matchday of the Serie A 2021/22 campaign.
Other than winning their game against Sampdoria, Inter needed Milan to drop three points against Sassuolo to stay in the running for their consecutive Serie A title. Inter started the game with urgency. They passed the ball well, kept their composure and subsequently came up with a couple of feasible opportunities in the first half.
Emil Audero stood firm with the gloves, making a few outstanding saves to keep the scoreline 0-0 at the end of the first half. Samp did create chances but not as many as the home side managed to muster in the first forty-five minutes of the game.
Inter came out all guns blazing in the second half, with Ivan Perišić drawing the first blood in the 49th-minute of the game. Joaquín Correa scored a quick brace with two exquisite finishes. Hakan Çalhanoğlu was the assist-provider for both goals.
After considering three goals, Samp’s attack came to life. They carved out a few golden chances but never got closer to beating the Inter custodian. Inter won the match but lost the Scudetto race to Milan, who won against Sassuolo with a 3-0 scoreline. Here are the player ratings from the Nerazzurri’s final game of the season.
