Cristian Chivu made the ideal debut on the Parma bench, beating Bologna 2-0 in the Emilia-Romagna Derby with an Ange-Yoan Bonny penalty and Simon Sohm strike.
The Ducali sacked Fabio Pecchia this week and brought in new boss Chivu, who had a huge injury list to contend with including Milan Djuric, Hernani, Alessandro Vogliacco, Valentin Mihaila, Gabriel Charpentier, Yordan Osorio, Mateusz Kowalski, Alessandro Circati, Adrian Benedyczak and suspended Giovanni Leoni. Bologna were in fine form, unbeaten in seven Serie A rounds and through to the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Jens Odgaard, Emil Holm and Estanis Pedrola missed out on this Emilia-Romagna Derby.
It was a very aggressive start from the Ducali, as twice in the opening 120 seconds they got down the left to pull back from the by-line, unable to finish it off.
Their injury crisis immediately intensified, Adrian Bernabé limping off after five minutes with an upper thigh issue, making way for Nahuel Estevez.
Niccolò Cambiaghi nodded the Remo Freuler cross wide of the back post, but Parma were awarded a penalty when Ange-Yoan Bonny with his back to goal flicked up the ball onto Sam Beukema’s hand. Bonny converted for his first goal since November 9.

Zion Suzuki made a great reaction save on Dan Ndoye’s header, although the Bologna forward was offside, just before the break.
Parma player Matteo Cancellieri was very lucky not to receive a second yellow card on 63 minutes for his lunge on Nicolò Cambiaghi, smartly substituted moments later by Chivu.
Riccardo Orsolini came off the Bologna bench and hit a scorcher just over the bar, then had penalty appeals rejected as Pontus Almqvist prevented him tapping in the Charalampos Lykogiannis pull-back from five yards.
Parma doubled their lead instead, as Dennis Man intercepted a wayward midfield pass and sent Simon Sohm running to smash in a powerful strike from a tricky angle with his left boot.
Giovanni Fabbian came close to a consolation goal late on, his header off target.
