The Lega Serie A, National Hockey League (NHL) and its affiliated Players’ Association (NHLPA) have announced a new strategic partnership aimed at bringing two of the world’s most prestigious sports leagues together ahead of the Winter Olympics in Italy in 2026.
The cross-sport collaboration will see the respective organisations combine for promotional activities ahead of the NFL players’ participation in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Marquee events will be held during the NHL/NHLPA European Player Media Tour, which will be held in the city of Milan on August 22, one day out from the first Serie A match of the 2025-26 season.

Serie A players and NHL players will both take part in special events that are aimed at engaging and exciting fans of each sport.
NHL players will also be invited to the training grounds of several Serie A clubs during their trip in August, and will also visit a number of grounds and will be present for a number of league fixtures over that weekend.
“In North America, both soccer and hockey have incredibly dedicated, passionate fan bases,” said Andy Mitchell, CEO and Managing Director of Lega Serie A USA.
“This collaboration with the NHL and the NHLPA allows us to engage with a global audience in new and exciting ways while celebrating the anticipation surrounding the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
“By bringing Lega Serie A legends and NHL stars together, we aim to create a synergy that showcases the best of each league, creating an unforgettable experience for fans on both sides of the Atlantic.”
Keith Wachtel, NHL Business President added: “As a global sport with players from 21 countries, the NHL is thrilled to collaborate with Lega Serie A to create unique content that celebrates the intersection of hockey and soccer.
“With the Winter Olympics on the horizon, Milan will serve as a focal point for sports fans around the world, so we are delighted to take the opportunity to promote our top hockey players in the environments of the biggest sport in Italy.”
