Juventus secured another three points away from home as manager Joe Montemurro continued to lead his side to a flawless start in the league. Juventus are now flying in Serie A, with 15 points from their first five games after Fiorentina were arguably their biggest challenge so far.

Stadio Curva Fiesole Park was the setting for a narrow 2-1 loss for Fiorentina to Le Bianconere. A goal from Dutch international Lineth Beerensteyn and a well-placed penalty from Cristiana Girelli sealed the win.

Fiorentina put up an intense battle for the usually dominant side, despite Juventus finding the lead in the 34th minute. Italian midfielder Michela Catena managed to draw the teams level in the 67th minute after a calm finish not long after coming on from the bench.

Despair was to be had for the home side though, after Austrian international Marina Georgieva — the former PSG defender — was sent off by referee Francesco Zago with a second yellow card.

The responsibility to retake the lead for Juventus fell to the number 10. Girelli — no stranger to finding the net for Juve by netting 61 times in 74 league games — added another to her tally with a calm strike past goalkeeper Schroffenegger.

Juventus now sit pretty in Serie A, with a perfect record of 15 points from their first five games. Montermurro’s side face Roma next, which could become a title-deciding matchup later down the line.

Fiorentina will undoubtedly feel hard done by the loss as they prepare to host AC Milan in a week.
