Transfer News: Chelsea target Adrien Rabiot offered to PSG

According to @FabDellaValle (via Get Italian Football News) [h/t Football.London], Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been offered to PSG amidst interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Rabiot’s time at Juventus seems to be coming to an end with the Frenchman not living up to his expectations at Turin. Very highly rated during his time at PSG, big things were expected of the French midfielder in the footballing world but things have not panned out that way.

Rabiot joined Juventus from PSG on a free transfer in 2019 after failing to agree to a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants. The French midfielder has been inconsistent at best with the Old Lady but not influencing the midfield in the way he can.

This has meant that the former PSG man has found himself in and out of the team often. Rabiot has played 45 times for the Old Lady this season failing to score but providing two assists across all competitions. Anyone who has seen the Frenchman play will know that he is capable of much more.

One thing that Rabiot has which makes him a subject of interest from so many clubs is probably his versatility. Rabiot is perfectly capable of playing in central midfield, defensive midfield, attacking midfield and even on the left and right flanks. He has even played as a left-back for the French national team.

Chelsea to battle PL clubs for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Although Rabiot has been offered to PSG, the French midfielder did not end his time in the French capital on the best terms with the club. He was exiled from the first team after refusing to renew his contract and hence PSG might not want to sign him.

Tuchel is no stranger to Adrien Rabiot having seen him during their time at Parc des Princes. To be fair, he had Rabiot playing some of the better football of his career and hence if the German tactician wants the Frenchman, he will surely have a plan for him.

Rabiot will not be the first player to be traded between Juventus and Chelsea. Juan Cuadrado famously made the switch from the Blues to Juve and so did Gonzalo Higuain who arrived on loan from Juventus. Rabiot could be yet another player to make this switch.

Right now, it’s still not evident as to why Chelsea want Rabiot and we could rightfully be sceptical about signing the Frenchman. If he proves us wrong, however, he would be a great acquisition by Thomas Tuchel.
