In a recent report, Firenzeviola mentioned that Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic is on the radar of West Ham United. It has been claimed that the Hammers are eyeing a move for the Serbian defensive ace.

Milenkovic’s Impressive Run Of Form At Florence

Milenkovic is having a solid season in Italian football after producing a handful of dominant performances at the centre of Fiorentina’s defence. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net twice and earned one assist in 16 matches for the Italian club in the previous campaign across various competitions.

The Serbian talent has been a rock at the back based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 2.4 clearances, 0.5 shots and 0.5 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from the back as he has made 84.9% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

Milenkovic is under contract at Fiorentina until the summer of 2027. Therefore, the Hammers will have to make a big offer if they want to bring him to the English capital next year.

Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Snap Milenkovic Up?

Milenkovic is a solid tackler of the ball and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required. He can sense the danger quickly to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field and is also proficient at playing his way out from the back. Milenkovic mainly operates as a central defender but can also fill in as a right-back if asked to do so.

The Serbian sensation can use his strong 1.95m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. Hence, he would be a dream option for West Ham United boss David Moyes to pursue in 2023. Still, there are some concerns so how he will adapt to the Premier League and whether he can maintain his good form in English football.

We can expect Milenkovic to enhance the quality of West Ham’s backline and help them challenge for a European spot over the next few years. The Serbian powerhouse will be a guaranteed starter at the London Stadium and could prove himself to be a valuable addition to the Hammers‘ backline.

At 25, Milenkovic’s peak years are ahead of him, so Moyes would be wise to orchestrate a move to snap him up this January or at the end of this season.
