Florinel Coman made a spectacular debut with his scorching long-range strike taking Cagliari away from the danger zone, plunging Parma to a third straight defeat.

This was a pure dogfight at the bottom, as the Ducali had dropped into the relegation zone, one point behind the Sardinians. Zito Luvumbo recovered for a spot on the bench, with Giuseppe Ciocci the only remaining absentee. The visitors missed Lautaro Valenti, Gabriel Charpentier, Mateusz Kowalski, Alessandro Circati and Yordan Osorio, but Hernani and Dennis Man were working their way back from injury and Enrico Delprato returned from suspension.

Adrian Bernabé returned to the starting XI and his free kick flashed just wide before Drissa Camara’s effort was charged down by Sebastiano Luperto.

Mattia Felici had his solo attempt fingertipped round the upright and on the resulting Cagliari corner Yerry Mina’s header thumped the base of the far post.

Zion Suzuki got away with fumbling a Tommaso Augello cross and risked a red card when dropping another ball, almost handling the rebound outside the penalty area, but Parma lost striker Milan Djuric to an ankle injury on the half-hour mark.

After Alessandro Vogliacco threw himself in the way of another Felici finish, Parma had the ball in the net against the run of play, but Camara was offside with his cross for the Ange-Yoann Bonny header.

Dennis Man came off the bench and immediately his cross was just beyond both Simon Sohm and Camara, but Bonny came closest with a solo run past four defenders to clip the upright with his finish from 10 yards.

Cagliari took the lead when Michel Adopo flicked on an Augello cross from the left, but the final touch was off Vogliacco into his own net from point-blank range.

Felici’s volley was too close to Suzuki, but Florinel Coman made the perfect debut just a couple of minutes after coming off the bench, immediately smashing a screamer into the far top corner from distance.

Parma got back into it late on, as a corner was taken short for Bonny to stand up the cross on the Giovanni Leoni looping header, but never really threatened to equalise.
