Manchester United have opted to terminate Sergio Reguilón’s season-long loan switch early, and the left-back will now return to parent club Tottenham.
That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who reports on Tuesday that with Luke Shaw fit again and Tyrell Malacia nearing his return from injury, United cannot offer Reguilón sufficient playing time.
The Spaniard moved to Old Trafford late in the summer window and went on to make 12 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Since he has only played for United this season, FIFA rules dictate that he could play for another club should Spurs decide to move him on again during the January transfer window.
