After Sergio Reguilón managed to raise eyebrows in his first season in the Real Madrid first-team last season, the 23-year-old has become a key member of Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla squad on his season-long loan.
In fact, the left-back earned his maiden Spain call-up back in October for their European qualifiers against Norway and Sweden.
Though Reguilón is still under contract at Real Madrid until 2023, his impressive performances have fuelled rumours that Sevilla could attempt to bring him in on a permanent deal.
With Marcelo’s Real Madrid future up in the air, though, there could still be a place at the Bernabéu for Reguilón.
No matter where he ends up, it appears that the player will be satisfied.
“I can’t believe that the match at the Wanda Metropolitano was the last match I played with Sevilla FC, and even more, it was a draw,” Reguilón told Diario de Sevilla.
“It cannot be the last match, a draw, it cannot be, please, I don’t want to play my last match there…
“I would love to finish the season either on July 30th or August 30th with Sevilla. It’s my team and that’s my idea.
“I am very good here, as I would be in Madrid. I am from Madrid, I have my life there, and I would love to succeed there.”
Under Lopetegui, Reguilón has been a regular starter, scoring a goal and dishing out four assists in 22 LaLiga contests this season.
