Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed this morning that newly-arrived defender Sergio Ramos remains out with a calf injury, sustained in training last week.

The Spaniard, who signed after leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season, will be out for tonight’s friendly against his former club Sevilla, and is likely to also be ruled out for Sunday’s Trophée des Champions clash against Lille, last season’s title winners.

The PSG medical staff are aiming to have the centre-back back in training by next week, with the opening game of the season against Troyes coming on August 7.

The club add that Brazilian midfielder Rafinha is also out of action with a knee sprain, full-back Colin Dagba is recovering from an ankle sprain, and that Ramos’ compatriot Juan Bernat is also making a progressive return to collective training sessions.

PSG face Sevilla tonight with a rejuvenated squad in Faro, Portugal – with notably the club’s internationals in Kylian Mbappé, Presnel Kimpembe, Georginio Wijnaldum and Danilo Pereira only just returning from their holidays. Among others missing from Mauricio Pochettino’s squad are players with international commitments over the summer who are still resting – Marco Verratti, Neymar, Marquinhos, Leandro Paredes, Angel Di María.
