Love him or hate him, there’s no doubt that Sergio Ramos has had an incredible career.

The Real Madrid centre-back has won basically every major trophy there is on offer, both at club and international level.

And, at the ripe old age of 34, Ramos is still making history.

His two goals for Spain in their 4-0 win over Ukraine on Sunday saw him set yet another record.

The first (from the penalty spot in the third minute) saw him equal Daniel Passarella’s record of 22 international goals for a defender.

And before the half hour, a looping header helped him to reach 23 to claim the record for himself.

You could argue that 23 goals in 172 appearances for La Roja is not that impressive in comparison to 22 in 70 for Pasarella.

But let’s not be petty, eh?

Ramos’ brace at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano also saw him climb to joint eighth in the all-time Spain goalscoring list, alongside the great striker Alfredo Di StĆ©fano.

Now in his sights is former Real Madrid star Emilio ā€˜The Vulture’ ButragueƱo, who scored 26 times back in the 1980s and early 1990s.
