Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the departure of centre-back Sergio Ramos this summer.

The 37-year-old was negotiating with PSG over a new deal, but he will leave the club after two years in Paris.

Ramos joined PSG after a legendary career with Real Madrid. Injuries hampered his final season at Madrid, and those issues continued in Paris.

The former Sevilla defender only started eight Ligue 1 games last season.

Ramos has played 32 Ligue 1 games this term, starting 30. He has scored one goal and assisted another while helping them keep seven clean sheets.

PSG had a poor campaign in the Champions League, but he played all eight matches.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said (via PSG’s official website): “We would like to express our immense gratitude to Sergio Ramos for the two years he has spent with us.

“Sergio’s leadership, team spirit and professionalism, combined with his experience at the highest level, make him a true football legend, and it was an honour to have him in Paris.

“Everyone at the club wishes him all the best”

Ramos added: “Wearing the Red and Blue shirt for the last two years has been a wonderful experience.

“I’ve had an unforgettable adventure in Paris and I’d like to thank you all for your support and love. Allez Paris!”

PSG have already secured the signing of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar to replace Ramos. The Slovakian will join via a free transfer this summer.

They are also pushing to sign Bayern Munich’s Lucas Hernandez. They believe they can take him from the Bundesliga champions as he has 12 months left on his deal.
