Sergio Ramos Reacts to Barcelona’s Gerard Pique Retiring From Football | OneFootball

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique suddenly announced that he would retire from football when La Liga breaks for the World Cup this month.

The 35-year-old central defender says Saturday’s match against Almeria in LaLiga will be his last at Camp Nou for the Catalan side after 14 years in the first team following his return from Manchester United in 2008.

Despite the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos and Pique were teammates on the Spain national team that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Ramos took to Twitter to state his congratulations on Pique’s retirement and a successful career that saw the Barcelona star win trophies at the club and international levels.

After Ramos dealt with injuries at Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, many believed he would follow Pique to retirement. Still, so far, the veteran defender has bounced back and looks like a quality defender who can contribute to the squad this 2022-23 football season.
