Sergio Ramos, 38, stands as one of the greatest defenders of his generation. With a career boasting four UEFA Champions League titles, five La Liga championships, a FIFA World Cup, and a UEFA European Championship, his accolades are a testament to his talent and leadership on the field. But now, after years of dominating European football, Ramos could be on the brink of a new challenge—this time in Liga MX.
It seems Ramos is nowhere near ready to hang up his boots, with reports indicating that he and his representatives are in ongoing talks over a potential move to Mexico to join Los Rayados.
Ramos played 671 times for Real Madrid, spending 16 years with the club. During his career, he represented the Spanish national team 180 times, racking the most in the country's history. After an emotional exit from Madrid in 2021, he joined the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and more at Paris Saint Germain before returning to his boyhood club, Sevilla, for one season.

The news comes just weeks after his former Real Madrid teammate, James Rodríguez, completed his move to Mexico by signing with Club León.
If Ramos signs on the dotted line with Monterrey, he will reunite with some familiar faces. Sergio Canales, who also had a spell at Real Madrid, is already part of the squad, while Óliver Torres and Lucas Ocampos were former teammates of his at Sevilla just last season.
Monterrey reached the Liga MX Apertura final last month but fell to Club América and are now struggling in the Clausura. Four games in, they remain winless, conceding a 90th-minute equaliser in last night’s 3-3 draw with Atlas in Guadalajara.
