Sergio Ramos looks ever closer to leaving Sevilla for the second time in his career, 19 years after the first occasion. He went to Real Madrid in 2005, whereas this time around, he is edging towards the United States.

Sevilla are keen to retain Ramos’ services for another season, but their offer only reaches €4m. On the other hand, El Sevillista have reported that San Diego FC, who will join the MLS in 2025, have offered €12m for the 38-year-old to be their first marquee signing.

Ramos is reportedly keen to net the final lucrative contract of his career, and given Sevilla’s financial issues, he’s not going to get that money where he currently is. That does make a move to the MLS, or Saudi Arabia, much more likely.

It remains to be seen how Ramos’ situation at Sevilla plays out. Former manager Quique Sanchez Flores does not expect the veteran to stay on for another season, and right now, it looks like he will be proven right.
