Ramos captained Real Madrid in their comfortable 3-0 win against Roma at Santiago Bernabéu last night.
But he also picked up his 37th yellow card after grappling with Steven Nzonzi.
It was the Spain international’s 115th appearance in the competition and with the booking overtook Manchester United’s Paul Scholes as the most cautioned player in its history.
The only player currently registered that could come even close to Ramos is Dani Alves who is fifth on the all-time list with 26 yellows.
In some ways, you’ve got to admit a grudging respect.
