Sergio Busquets will miss Barcelona’s match against Real Sociedad | OneFootball

In the 93rd minute in Barcelona’s 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano, Sergio Busquets was sent off after picking up his second yellow card. In the 74th minute, Busquets picked up his first yellow for a challenge on Óscar Trejo.

With just minutes left on the clock, Busquets was trying to protect the ball with his arms outstretched and, when he turned, ended up elbowing Radamel Falcao in the face and referee Hernández Hernández sent off the veteran midfielder.

Busquets will now miss Barcelona’s away game against Real Sociedad scheduled for Sunday 21 August. Without the captain, Xavi will have to find an alternative pivot.

Frenkie de Jong impressed coming off the bench for the Blaugrana and could get the nod to start at the Reale Arena next weekend. Franck Kessié is another option for Xavi. The former AC Milan midfielder had the ball in the net late on against Rayo but was ruled out for offside as Barca looked for a late winner.
