Manchester City youngster Lukas Nmecha – who is currently enjoying a prolific loan spell at Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht – has spoken honestly about his ability amid talk about his future.
Nmecha (22), has been part of the City set-up since 2007. The Germany Under-21 international (although he is eligible to represent England too) had three unsuccessful loan spells prior to this season.
At Anderlecht, however, he has blossomed, with 10 goals in 17 appearances to his name. The forward, who is capable as a striker or operating as a winger, recently revealed he wants to settle permanently at a club where he will be first-choice.
He has not, though, ruled out succeeding at his boyhood club, in quotes reported by SportVoetbal as relayed by SportWitness.
“Becoming a starter at Man City, I have that within me. Sergio Agüero is better than me, and that’s the reason why the club loaned me out many times. If I want to do well at Man City, I need to work on my weaknesses…”, Nmecha said.
A permanent move to Anderlecht could be an option, and Nmecha is certainly developing well with Kompany’s tutelage. That has also been a big factor in the Brussels side faring much better than they did in the City legend’s first season as manager.
While it would be a fairytale ending if Nmecha returned to City and broke into the first-team, it admittedly does not look likely given the talent that currently abounds in Pep Guardiola’s side.
A permanent transfer in the summer is the probable result of Nmecha’s fine form in Belgium – but where to remains to be seen.
