Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero could be in hot water after he was caught on camera lashing out at a supporter following his side’s FA Cup defeat on Monday evening.
Will Grigg’s 79th minute winner gave League One Wigan Athletic a stunning victory over the Premier League leaders, prompting jubilant scenes inside the DW Stadium.
A number of home supporters raced onto the pitch in celebration at the full-time whistle, one of whom appeared to confront Agüero as he was talking to Latics defender Chey Dunkley.
It is not known what the supporter said to the Argentine, but it prompted him to swing his forearm out in retaliation before he had to be restrained by a member of City’s staff.
The Football Association are likely to take action against the striker and a ban could follow, which isn’t ideal given City face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether this is also deemed a matter worthy of police intervention.
Earlier in the evening, Fabian Delph’s red card on the stroke of half-time sparked ugly scenes in the tunnel, in which Pep Guardiola and Latics boss Paul Cook were heavily involved.
