As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool centre-back Sepp van den Berg has elected to sign for Brentford.
It had previously been reported that the Dutchman was linked to a number of Bundesliga clubs this summer.
With VfL Wolfsburg, VfB Stuttgart, Mainz 05, and Bayer Leverkusen all stating their intent on luring van den Berg away from Anfleid, a return to Germany appeared inevitable.
However, in recent days, due to Liverpool’s new demand of €20 million plus €5 million in future add-ons, only Die Werkself remained at the negotiation table.
Nevertheless, Xabi Alonso’s side made it clear that they would only make a move for the 22-year-old should they lose a key defender before the end of the transfer window.
As stated in the report, the Dutchman has elected to make the move to London in order to sign for Brentford.
It is understood that the Premier League side will pay at least €25 million after agreeing terms with the Reds, where he will undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.
Therefore, should Die Werkself lose Odilon Kossounou in the coming weeks, they will have to look elsewhere for his replacement.
