Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has been targeted by TalkSPORT’s Simon Jordan in a recent swipe.
The Spurs midfielder was at the centre of a controversial goal celebration from Brentford’s Neal Maupay last month when the Frenchman copied Maddison’s darts celebration.
And Jordan has now hit out at James Maddison suggesting the 27-year-old’s ego was bruised by the Brentford striker’s attempted wind-up.

After taking the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Maupay ran to the south stand and emulated Maddison’s iconic celebration.
It was slightly bizarre and appeared to be an attempt to get a rise out of Maddison, which admittedly it did.
However, it also woke Spurs up and saw the likes of Richarlison and Brennan Johnson find the back of the net before doing the same celebration in response to Maupay.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan has now suggested that Maddison should not have been so sensitive to Mauapay’s clear attempt to wind him up: ‘Do I think saying things to wind people up, yeah it’s part of the sport. Should the players be able to rise above it, yeah. Some of them have a sense of entitlement so when he gives it back to the Spurs players that celebrate – because I hate all those goal celebrations anyway – so he’s giving it back and mimicking them, I think they take themselves a bit too seriously at times.’

At the end of the day, it was Maddison and Spurs who had the last laugh with Maupay having just made himself look a bit daft.
It was uncalled for and the striker clearly was just trying to get under the skin of Ange Postecoglou’s players.
But he was the one who was left with egg on his face as he was on the losing side and Maddison was able to provide a brilliant comeback in the post-match interview.
Perhaps there is some truth in what Jordan is saying in that Maddison should have just let it go, but it was certainly enjoyable to see some of our players get their revenge later on in the game.
Maddison is clearly levels above Maupay as a Premier League player, but getting to use Maupay’s actions a fuel to bring home the three points was great to see.
And if there is one player who probably shouldn’t be slammed for his ego is Maddison after the touching actions seen on the weekend with the young fan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
