England line up for tonight’s World Cup with no Chelsea players in their ranks.

Counterintuitively, given Chelsea are an English club, their opposition Senegal have more than that.

Sterling is left out because of a family matter – although it’s not clear if he would have been picked to start anyway – while Mason Mount has been left out for Jordan Henderson.

Ben Chilwell and Reece James are among those who are missing the whole tournament due to injury.

Senegal meanwhile have both Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly starting as they look to take their impressive run even further by reaching the Quarter Final.

So despite being the best academy in the country for a while now, we’re left with no Blues on the Three Lions to support.

England are favourites, but the two Chelsea boys and their teammates will be doing everything they can to stop them. We’re in for a good game.
