Selling Alexander Isak COULD actually be the making of this Newcastle United team

Ok lads and lasses, what I’m about to say may divide the room, but hear me out.
I know no more than any other ordinary Newcastle United fan, merely what I see on the minimal social media I’m on and hear on some Newcastle United podcasts.
For many, many months now, the disgraceful public tapping up of star striker Alexander Isak has rumbled on. and until the transfer window closes I don’t see this abating. Even when said window closes, the can simply gets kicked down the road with next summer probably being the “End Game” for said rumours and speculation.
We, as Newcastle United fans, would hate to lose Alexander Isak at ANY particular time, be it January, next summer or (brace yourselves) NOW.
Allow me to go off on a strange tangent.
I’m sure most people have seen the original 1984 film Ghostbusters. In one particular scene, Egon Spengler specifically states to not “Cross the streams” with regards to their Proton Packs as this would be “Bad”. Only for the solution to their problems later in the film to be resolved by doing such a move. Ok, odd movie analogy out of the way, onto my point.
A potential outcome for Newcastle United in the real world, may be to “Cross the streams” and sell Alexander Isak.
Think about it.
IF there’s truth in any rumour that Alexander Isak and/or his agent has approached the club and simply pointed out that he could now be sat on a much higher wage at another club, so therefore he should be entitled to ask for a new improved contract, that creates BIG problems.
First, you have a player that busts our wage ceiling apart by miles. You can guarantee your Gordons, Tonalis, Brunos and Joelintons will be knocking on the club’s doors and asking for similar increases. If we’re led to believe that our top earners are on £120k-150k a week, hiking one player up to £250k a week, for example, then satisfying that one player becomes VERY expensive.
Put it this way, if you could get Yoane Wissa for £35m and pocket £150m for Isak, the numbers make relative sense both in terms of finance AND both players’ respective stats. Having £100m+ to strengthen other areas of the team is massive, so selling Alexander Isak COULD actually be the making of this Newcastle United team going forward.
We all feared this situation where, to improve the team and build, a big player would likely have to be sold.
We’ve been here before.
Who would have thought that when Kevin Keegan sold Andy Cole, we would get Les Ferdinand AND Faustino Asprilla AND Alan Shearer.
I’d also like to add at this point, that I put my same trust in Eddie Howe as I did with Kevin Keegan, no matter what he decides to do. But let’s not get too hung up on Alexander Isak, the world will move on, even if the player does.
I would also stipulate that I’d charge a Liverpool more than I’d charge a Real Madrid for example, but I digress.
Now all this could all be untruths be simply nonsense at the end of the day and we could be sat here in a few weeks when the season starts, with a happy Alexander Isak banging the goals in for fun and the summer window a distant memory. I’d be happy. I love the player himself, but let’s not rule out the alternative, like I’ve said, it could be the making of us.
