Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United has ended in acrimony – as you’d expect.

The club were conned into signing him, paid him crazy money and then found out he was a fading force, bringing more off the field problems than on the field quality.

He’s forced his way out of United – which suckers will be next to pick him up? Worryingly for Chelsea fans, Ronaldo’s former teammate Gary Neville thinks it could be Chelsea.

Speaking on ITV coverage of the World Cup, Neville said that the Blues were his choice as the most likely Premier League team for Ronaldo.

“It could be either [UK or abroad], it could be the UK if there is a team that will bite. It’s more likely abroad. Chelsea are the ones that I think are talking about it. Boehly seems to like the idea of Cristiano at Chelsea.”

In the summer it was claimed that new owner Todd Boehly had explored the possibility of signing the superstar, but the move was resisted by Thomas Tuchel.

Now Tuchel is gone, will Graham Potter stand up to his new boss?
