One former Premier League star has suggested that Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is now on dangerous ground and is interested to see how it pans out.
The news comes off the back of Chelsea only managing to draw 2-2 at home with Ipswich Town on Sunday, a team who are destined to be in the Championship again next season.
One BBC pundit has pinned the blame on the players for the draw on Sunday, saying that they have to take a long hard look at themselves after that poor performance.
And head coach Enzo Maresca has also picked out two of his players for making some mistakes in the game which he believes was not good enough and cost them.
Overall though it was so poor, and blame really must be shared between the head coach, the manager, and those who have built an unbalanced squad at Chelsea that severely lacks quality experience and balance.
Maresca has been picking fights with Chelsea fans more than once now, and former Arsenal striker Ian Wright does not think it will end well.
Ian Wright on his podcast.
Wright believes that the Chelsea owners should be angered by Maresca’s recent criticism of the club’s fanbase.
He said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show: “I listened to his interview again [after the Ipswich draw], he was almost blaming the crowd for not being patient with the team for them playing out the back. He’s upset with the goalkeeper because then the goalkeeper knocked it long, and then they (Ipswich) scored a goal. I think any manager that starts pointing the finger and bringing the fans in – it’s dangerous ground to do that…
“For him to say that, if I’m upstairs, I wouldn’t be happy hearing him talking about the fans like that. If I’m the fans, I wouldn’t be happy with him trying to blame us. It’s going to be interesting to see how that one pans out.”
