Arsenal are now said to be reconsidering their interest in Gabriel Jesus after learning Manchester City will demand £55m for the forward.
The Gunners have been linked with Jesus for weeks but ESPN now report that they are weighing up their options with City demanding a large fee despite the Brazilian having just one year remaining on his contract.
Talks between the north London club and the 25-year-old were confirmed by his agent last week.
“We had talks with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus,” Marcelo Pettinati said to the Guardian.
“We like the project, it’s a possibility we’re discussing.
“There are six more clubs interested in Gabriel. He’s focused on the final games with Man City; we’ll see.”
Jesus, who has 95 goals in 235 Man City appearances, has never started more than 22 games in a Premier League season and can expect less game time next season as Erling Haaland joins the Premier League leaders.
Haaland is set to join for a similar fee after City informed Borussia Dortmund they will pay his release clause.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has previously worked with Jesus during his time on Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff.
