ST. Johns. - Barbados went to the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and secured its first-ever League B victory, coming from behind to beat Antigua and Barbuda 2-1 on Sunday. The result leaves Antigua and Barbuda out of the Gold Cup Prelims, with Cuba winning Group A and Guadeloupe finishing second. The day started on a much brighter note for The Benna Boys. As the clock ticked past the half-hour mark Antigua and Barbuda FW Myles Weston whipped in a corner kick from the far side that he tucked into the net for a spectacular ‘olimpico’ opening goal. But Barbados was hungry for points in the CNL and mounted a rally. After linking in the midfield, Thierry Gale surged forward and sent a right-footed shot from just outside the box for the equalizer. And in the 87th minute, Barbados had its first advantage of the tournament with DF Shane Codrington sending a ball over the top to FW Taijo James. James used his first touch to send a looping shot over Antigua and Barbuda GK Nicholas Townsend and earn the lead.

Despite attacking changes from Antigua and Barbuda, the advantage held and Barbados earned the three points. Both teams now will begin preparations for the next edition of the Concacaf Nations League, when each will again compete in League B.
