Sébastien Haller’s first club honours the former Utrecht and Ajax striker by renaming stadium after him | OneFootball

Former FC Utrecht and Ajax striker Sébastien Haller is set to have a stadium named after him, according to Voetbal International. Haller’s local football club as a youth player was Olympique Vigneux. In honour of the Borussia Dortmund striker’s successful career, the club will rename their stadium after him.

Haller joined Vigneux as a nine-year-old boy. He spent two years playing for the club between 2003 and 2005 before eventually joining Auxerre’s youth academy. The 28-year-old has since had successful spells in the Netherlands with Utrecht and Ajax, in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund, and with West Ham United in the Premier League.

On the 24th of June, two days after Haller’s 29th Birthday, the municipality of Vigneux-sur-Seine will hold an event to honour the striker’s incredible career. Haller will be in attendance for the event and stadium renaming.

Last summer, Sébastien Haller was diagnosed with testicular cancer. After surgery and chemotherapy, he returned to the Dortmund team as they came inches away from claiming the Bundesliga title. The German giants missed out on winning the title during the final day of the season after drawing 2-2 to Mainz.
