Speaking to Sky Germany (via @bvbnewsblog), Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl spoke on the club’s goals for this season.

Last season, Dortmund reached the Champions League final before losing to Real Madrid 2-0 in London. However, domestically the club were underwhelming as they finished fifth in the Bundesliga and then were knocked out of the DFB Pokal at the round of 16 stages by VfB Stuttgart. This resulted in Edin Terzic stepping down as manager at the end of last season.

Nuri Sahin, who was Terzic’s assistant for the second half of the season was brought in as the new head coach, on working with the former midfielder, Kehl said:

“I really enjoy working with Nuri. He is a very competent coach and has a great personality. We’ve built something here. I would really enjoy continuing that.”

The arrival of Sahin also saw a new style of football which had been lacking under his predecessor. Attacking-wise, the change was the best season in Dortmund’s recent 4-2 win against Heidenheim on Friday night.

On Dortmund’s goals for this season, Kehl revealed:

“We want to play a really good role. It would be nice if we could bring a title back to Dortmund.”

After three games, Dortmund are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga with two wins and a draw and they currently sit second in the league, two points behind Bayern Munich. In the Champions League, their first game is against Club Brugge on Thursday night.
