Season over! PSG confirm surgery for Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Neymar’s season is over due to the player requiring a surgical procedure.

The Brazil international has been plagued with ankle issues in recent years and the club have offered an update on his situation after consultation with their medical staff.

After he suffered another injury to his right ankle two weeks ago, Neymar was advised to undergo a ligament repair operation in order to avoid risking a major reoccurrence of the problem.

As a result, surgery will take place in Doha later this week.

PSG confirmed that he will be absent for a period of three to four months as he recovers, meaning he will play no further part this season.

The 31-year-old has contributed 13 goals and 11 assists for Les Parisiens this season.
