Sean Dyche lauded his “outstanding” Everton players after claiming their fourth straight win in the Premier League.

The Toffees comfortably dispatched Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor with the goals coming from Amadou Onana and Michael Keane in the first half.

The Merseyside outfit were deducted 10 points by the Premier League less than a month ago, but four wins from five since then mean they have already wiped out that deficit, something Dyche is “very pleased with”.

“The players were outstanding today, particularly second half,” he told Sky Sports after the final whistle.

“The way they are going about things at the minute… We had to change our shape last minute and had no time to prep it, and we took the game in a very controlled tactical manner.

“Some of the people walking into the side today, they have trained so well, looked after themselves, and they have come in today and delivered a performance.”

Dyche believes the squad have developed a deep bond with the Everton supporters after years of turbulence on and off the pitch, something he’s keen to build on.

“We are building a team ethic and a team respect and that is getting deeper and deeper,” he said. “The link with the fans is real and getting more and more authentic. I always believed when I was a player and now as a manager you need that link with the fans to be successful.

“I am pleased that I have stuck to task with that [building a relationship with the fans] because there is a lot of noise around football. You get told you should be doing this and that, but I believed in what I can deliver with the players, but it is more important that they believe.

“These are good habits, bigger picture things that I believed needed changing and we are making steps towards changing them.”
