Manchester United are reportedly considering the scout who discovered Dele Alli as their new director of football.
Following a frustrating summer in the transfer window that created conflict between club officials and José Mourinho, an appointment of this ilk has been long overdue.
According to Sky Sports, RB Leipzig chief scout Paul Mitchell has been identified as a man who could come in and revolutionise United’s recruitment strategy.
Mitchell – formerly of Tottenham and Southampton – secured the signatures of Sadio Mané, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne before them selling on for huge profits.
He was also credited with building a recruitment system that identified and subsequently brought in Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, Son Heung-min and Kieran Trippier.
Roma’s Monchi and Juventus’ Fabio Paratici are currently the most desired options but both are seen as hugely difficult to extract from their current clubs.
