Hibernian are interested in signing QPR goalkeeper David Marshall, journalist Alan Nixon has reported via Patreon.

Marshall joined QPR back in the January transfer window to provide some important cover for the club between the posts, after falling out of favour at Derby County.

Since then however, the 37-year-old has made 11 appearances for QPR, who have seen their push for a Championship play-off place fall away during the second half of the campaign.

Now though, it appears as though Marshall could still be a man in demand once the summer transfer window opens.

According to this latest update, Hibernian are now keen on bringing Marshall back to his home country in the summer, with the Scottish Premiership side’s current number one Matt Macey apparently being offered to clubs in England.

QPR's first game of the season was a home game

Real Fake

As things stand, Marshall will be out of contract at QPR at the end of this season, meaning he could leave the club for free this summer.

The Verdict

You do get the feeling that this could be a move that is worth considering for Marshall.

Following the collapse of their promotion push during the second half of this season, it does seem as though their will be something of a rebuilding job at QPR this summer.

That is something that could see Marshall as an obvious candidate to be moved on, given he has not entirely convinced while he has been at the club.

A move to Hibernian would therefore allow him to prolong his career, while still playing at a higher level, while he still has some time remaining to step out on the pitch.
