Scottish FA release Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final Hampden dates

Celtic FC Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Glasgow City will take place at Hampden on Sunday 23 April with a 12.30pm kick-off, the Scottish FA have confirmed today. The other semi-final between theRangers and Motherwell will take place 24 hours earlier, also at the national stadium on Saturday 22 April.

Please note that Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side play Motherwell on Saturday 22 April at Celtic Park.

This is the first season where the semi-finals and indeed the final of the Women’s Scottish Cup are being played at Hampden as interest in the women’s game north of the border starts to grow. There is expected to be a record breaking television audience on Sky Sports Main Event this evening for the Glasgow Derby between theRangers and Celtic at Broadwood stadium in Cumbernauld. Both sides need the win to maintain any hope of winning the league with Glasgow City yesterday extending their points advantage over Celtic to nine points with a 2-0 win away to Hibs.

Fran Alonso’s side know the importance of winning the SWPL1 match this evening as it will mean that the destination of the title remains in our own hands. Defeat for current Champions theRangers will effectively end their hopes of retaining the title and of course Glasgow City will be hoping that the match ends all square.

That’s tonight, make sure you watch it if you can and also why not make a note of the Scottish Cup semi-final date which is actually a re-run of last season’s final at Tynecastle were around 4500 supporters enjoyed one of the best Celtic games (all teams) of the season, playing for 70 minutes with ten players before winning the match 3-2 in extra-time to bring the trophy back to Celtic Park for the first time ever!
