Scottish club confirm interest in Manchester United midfielder | OneFootball

Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt is the subject of interest from Scottish club Dundee United after impressing during his season-long loan at the club last year.

Levitt’s effort helped the club to European qualification and he was subsequently voted the fan’s Player of the Year, with his performances also earning him a place in the Wales squad for their crucial World Cup qualifiers in June. Levitt’s loan at Dundee came after two less successful stints at Charlton and Croatian club Istra 1961.

Now, with just one year remaining on his deal at United, the Scottish club have confirmed that they are interested in bringing him back to the Premiership this summer.

“We’re still interested and talks are ongoing. He’s got another year with Manchester United and a World Cup to aim for, to try and get into the Wales squad,” the club’s sporting director Tony Asghar is quoted as saying by the Daily Record.

“Dylan is a player who fits into our system. He is well liked by all of the players and loved by the fans. So yes, we are still trying to see if we can do something there. Jack likes the player. When you bring a new manager in, you have to run the list of targets past him.

“With Jack, I think we know we are on the right track with targets. When you see Levitt and the influence he had, especially in the second half of the season, he is a player we would like at Dundee United.

“But right now, he is a Manchester United player. We are speaking to them and they know our feelings. Dylan is a player we would like to have but it’s going to take United and ourselves to come to an agreement.”

SN’s verdict… Levitt’s involvement with the Welsh national side means that he will not be part of the first group of players due back at Carrington on Monday, with the 21-year-old instead returning to the club in July.

Had that been the case, it would have been fair to assume that Ten Hag would have liked to assess the midfielder before a decision on his future was made.

Instead, it’s looking likely that Levitt’s days at United are numbered and he will instead be leaving this summer. There is a possibility that the promising youngster extends his contract before returning to Dundee.

United are already short in midfield and Levitt would have fancied his chances of impressing in pre-season.
