You do not expect moves to be announced in the middle of March. But as it turns out, one Celtic player is heading out on loan, due to circumstances. It has been made official already. And it will be a great opportunity for him to get a taste of senior-level football, as those opportunities have not come at Parkhead yet.
The player we are talking about is Aidan Rice. Of course, a lot of Celtic fans won't be familiar with that name.
Rice is a goalkeeper who currently plays for the Celtic youth and developmental teams. He has been making on-and-off appearances for the club's Lowland League side. He has also featured in the UEFA Youth League.
As reported by Inverness Caledonian Thistle's official website, the club have signed Rice on an emergency loan. They have thanked Chris McCart, Colin Meldrum and Celtic for their assistance with the matter.
Inverness currently play in Scottish League One, the third division. They are eighth in the table there at the moment.
Of course, it could still turn out to be a good experience for someone like Rice. He has already trained with the first-team at Celtic, but has not made his debut for the senior team.
That is unsurprising, considering Celtic's recent record when it comes to promoting youngsters to the senior side. That is arguably the biggest reason why so many of them have chosen to leave the club early on in their careers rather than wait for their chances to come at Parkhead.
It is even more difficult for goalkeepers to get chances at a club like Celtic. That is because most of the time, experience is preferred in that area of the pitch, even more so than others. So, this could be a decent opportunity for Rice.
