The Blues won at the Gaverbeek after a tough match. Hence, coach Scott Parker could celebrate his first victory on the Blues' payroll.

“I am happy with this victory. These are important points. I don't have to deny that given the situation we are currently in. It was definitely not a beautiful match to watch. However, obtaining our first victory in our current situation is the most important thing, not how we did it. It was sometimes tough and sloppy although we created a few chances to take the lead. We could have made it easier for ourselves. However, our good mentality was the most important thing. The match could have gone either way, even tough it was sloppy on our part. We didn't play the way I want, not fluently enough. We will analyze this and continue to work in order to do better in the future. We are still far away from the level we want to reach. Hopefully, this three-pointer will give us a confidence boost."

Coach Parker started with Boyata and Odoi at center back but ended up finishing the match with Mechele and Sylla as central defenders. "Boyata got a yellow card early on so I chose to throw in some caution so we would end the match with eleven. Furthermore, during the match we saw a few things that had to be adjusted.” (EV/SF)
