Victory over their nearest challengers, Sheffield United, on Easter Monday was enough to see Parker’s men secure automatic promotion with two games to spare, giving them a head start on preparation for their return to the top flight next season.

Egan-Riley and Brownhill have both been influential to the Clarets’ success on the pitch this season, but there have been understandable concerns that the pair could both depart the Lancashire outfit for free over the summer.

However, those fears will certainly have been eased a little by Parker’s latest update.

Parker is “confident” that both Egan-Riley and Brownhill will re-sign

With Burnley now preparing for what will likely be a difficult campaign next term against the country’s strongest sides, news of Parker’s optimism regarding two of his key men comes as a huge boost.

Despite the levels of investment that are required to compete in the top flight, it is also invaluable that the core of the promotion-winning team is kept around, in order to both drive standards and establish a level of continuity on the pitch.

Egan-Riley and Brownhill have both featured heavily and played crucial roles for Burnley this season, while there is a genuine argument that the duo have both been among the Championship’s best players in their respective positions.

Hopes are now high that the pair will both extend their stay at Turf Moor, with Parker shedding light on their current situations earlier this week.

The 44-year-old said: “They’re ongoing conversations that we’ve been having now over the last few months.

“These are conversations that we’ll keep engaging with. Now we all know and there’s real clarity in what next year will bring and where we’re going to be, so hopefully we can get some conclusions on both of them.

When asked about his current feeling on the duo’s future, Parker continued: “I’m confident. I know that both players we’re talking about here have absolutely loved this year and have been vital cogs of what we’ve done.

“You obviously never know, but hopefully we can try and get to a point where we’ll have a bit more clarity on that.”

Egan-Riley and Brownhill have been excellent for Burnley this season

With Burnley’s promotion now confirmed, there is already more clarity as to how their squad will look next term.

Monday’s victory has automatically triggered permanent deals for loanees Bashir Humphreys, Jaidon Anthony, Marcus Edwards and Zian Flemming and, if they could tie down Egan-Riley and Brownhill as well, the Clarets would be in a strong position in the early stages of the summer.

Having netted 16 goals from midfield, club captain Brownhill has undoubtedly been one of the division’s standout performers.

The former Bristol City man has produced big moments when it has mattered most for Parker’s side, not least with his brace to down Chris Wilder’s Blades on Monday.

Brownhill is a hugely important player to Burnley’s plans both on and off the pitch. He is crucial with his energy and quality at the heart of their midfield, but also brings leadership qualities, the importance of which can never be understated.

Meanwhile, Egan-Riley, who has recently attracted interest from West Ham United, has been outstanding in the centre of defence. Alongside Frenchman Maxime Esteve, the 22-year-old has been central to Burnley’s remarkable defensive record this season.

Parker’s men have shipped just 15 goals from their 44 league games so far this campaign, a record which is better than anybody else in the top four divisions of English football.

A watertight defence will be hugely important to Burnley next season, considering the fact that they will likely spend plenty of games on the back foot. As a result, the importance of maintaining Egan-Riley’s services cannot be underestimated.

The same goes for Brownhill who, after the best goalscoring season of his life this term, must surely be desperate for another shot at the Premier League.
