Speaking after their 1-1 draw with Anderlecht, newly appointed Club Brugge head coach Scott Parker bemoaned his sides mentality as they failed to capitalise on a host of chances to get three points. Parker was disappointed that after the side took the lead, they didn’t look to push on and instead decided to try and hold the lead instead. The former Fulham and Bournemouth manager said his side lacked a killer instinct as they racked up 16 shots and an xG of 2.48.
Anderlecht, on the other hand, did not manage a single shot on target and finished with an xG of 0.18. They were helped by a freak deflection that saw Brandon Mechele turn the ball past Simon Mignolet.
This result means that Genk are now 17 points clear of the defending champions in the league. After Gent also won, a 2-1 victory over Kortrijk, they are now just one point behind Club Brugge in fifth.
