Serie A side Napoli picked up a 3-0 win over Empoli today and maintained very much on Inter’s back, when it comes to the Scudetto.
It was a Scott McTominay show on Monday, as the midfielder grabbed a brace and was set up on both times for Romelu Lukaku, who got two assists and also grabbed a goal of his own in the 3-0 win.
Empoli were rudderless as even though Napoli didn’t rotate their squad and were very keen on taking all three points. McTominay scored in the first half and got his second in the second half. He nearly got a hat-trick and was nearly assisted by Lukaku for that too, but his effort from the edge of the box had smacked against the woodwork.
Late in the game, he had a shot saved by Devis Vasquez. Despite that, the Scotsman took his goalscoring tally for the Serie A season to eight goals, with Lukaku taking his goal contributions tally for the campaign to 12 goals and ten assists.
Napoli remain one point behind Inter, who had beaten Genoa on Saturday.
