Scotland host Greece this evening aiming to retain their status in the Nations League’s top tier.
Scott McTominay’s penalty earned Scotland a 1-0 win in Greece on Thursday in the first leg of their promotion/relegation play-off. It was a disciplined performance from Steve Clarke’s side who defended resolutely for long periods of the clash.
Scotland will be wary of a Greek side who had their chances in the first meeting. After narrowly missing out on automatic promotion behind England, Greece are keen to ensure their Nations League campaign ends with success. Their last visit to British soil saw Vangelis Pavlidis net twice in a 2-1 upset of England at Wembley.
Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Christie is back available after serving a one-match ban in the first leg. Christie will hope to force his way into the midfield, though Clarke could opt for an unchanged team with no new issues for The Tartan Army.
Che Adams led the line in Greece, while there was no place in the starting side for Kieran Tierney. Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson was handed a start and performed well, as Scotland packed the engine room. He missed Euro 2024 with an ACL injury.
Scotland possible starting lineup: Gordon; Ralston, Souttar, Hanley, Robertson; Gilmour, McLean; McGinn, McTominay, Ferguson; Adams.
