The 32-year-old centre-back has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal at The Banks’s Stadium. The move sees the player reunited with Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward after the pair worked together at Birmingham City last season.
Corsie has more than a century of senior international caps to her name while she has played at the UEFA Women’s EURO in 2017 and at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 for The Tartan Army.
At club level, Corsie is a seven-time Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) winner from her spells with Glasgow City while she also won the NWSL Shield with Seattle Reign. Aston Villa are Corsie’s third English club with the player having represented Notts County back in 2017 prior to last season’s stint with Birmingham City.
After adding Corsie to her squad, Aston Villa boss Ward said “Rachel is someone I admired greatly while working with her last season. When we heard of her availability during this transfer window, we simply couldn’t ignore her leadership and overall quality. She will guide our young talent and will also give us another dimension at the back. We’re delighted to add her to the squad.”
Corsie joins England international midfielder Jill Scott in moving to Aston Villa in the current transfer window.
