Nicolo Schira has provided a rather worrying update on Theo Hernandez’s renewal, claiming that things are in the ‘high seas’ given the distance between the parties.

It has been a strange few weeks for Theo Hernandez, and it dates back to a press conference he gave while with the French national team for the 2024 European Championships in which he responded to a declaration from Zlatan Ibrahimovic by suggesting his Milan future is uncertain.

With the arrival of the new head coach Paulo Fonseca the hope was that he and the team could kick on to another level, yet the cooling break saga and obtaining just two points from nine to begin the season have led to a rather sour atmosphere surrounding the Rossoneri.

It is hard to think that it won’t have an impact on the long-term futures of certain players if the rot continues, with Theo’s deal expiring at the end of next season meaning there is some urgency to find a meeting point.

Schira spoke about Theo’s renewal in a video on his YouTube channel, explaining how no meetings have yet taken place between the club and the full-back’s entourage to try reach an agreement.

“Theo already earns 5 million, he can’t renew at 6. He wants at least 8 million euros. Milan won’t reach those figures but, above all, unlike Maignan with whom there have already been three meetings, two of which were very positive in recent months, with Theo Hernandez we are a bit at sea from this point of view,” he began (via Radio Rossonera).

“Milan have not recently met with Theo’s agent and has not yet formulated an official offer. It doesn’t make the player feel calm, as he was expecting another treatment. From this point of view he’s a bit dissatisfied: he was expecting a renewal that could even arrive after the European Championship.

“But the first offer hasn’t even arrived we will talk, but if today Maignan is moving quickly towards the renewal with Milan, regarding Theo Hernandez we are in high seas.”
