Ralf Rangnick is apparently the top candidate in FC Bayern’s search for a coach. The Munich management would probably like to finalise everything quickly. But the coach is apparently still sceptical.

According to consistent media reports, FC Bayern has settled on Ralf Rangnick as the new preferred candidate in the search for a new coach – but no agreement has yet been reached.

According to Sport1, the German record champions want to finalise the deal with Rangnick this week. The reason: the club wants to avoid unrest around the Champions League games against Real Madrid. Bayern will host the Whites for the first leg on 30 April. FCB then have to travel to Madrid for the second leg at the Bernabeu Stadium on 8 April.

According to Sport1, negotiations between Bayern and Rangnick are already underway. The 65-year-old is interested in the job, but is also sceptical.

Rangnick wants to see Bayern’s plan

According to the report, Rangnick does not see Bayern in a good state at the moment and wants to be presented with a clear plan as to which direction the club wants to take – and how this should be implemented.

However, one potential obstacle has already been cleared: the relationship between Rangnick and Uli Hoeneß is no longer strained following disputes in the past and would not stand in the way of a possible collaboration.

According to the report, Rangnick also has important advocates within the club: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wants him. In addition, sporting director Christoph Freund knows him well from their time together in Salzburg.

One problem that remains is that Rangnick is still under contract with the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) until 2026 and Bayern would still have to agree a transfer fee with them.
