AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni was asked about the potential signing of striker Santiago Gimenez, and addressed the protests towards the ownership.

Milan have had yet another opportunity presented to them in terms of making up ground on the teams directly above them. Juventus lost to Napoli yesterday, Bologna drew away at Empoli and Lazio face Fiorentina tonight.

However, the Rossoneri have already squandered several chances this season to make their pursuit of the Champions League places a bit easier for themselves, such as in Sergio Conceicao’s first league game (the 1-1 draw with Cagliari).

Parma meanwhile are a dangerous side despite being in a relegation battle, as Milan discovered at the Tardini earlier in the season as they lost 2-1. With 26 goals in 21 games the attack is their main weapon, given they have scored the most of any team in the bottom seven by some distance.

Speaking to DAZN not long before kick-off, Scaroni answered questions on the January transfer window and also the protests against the ownership, with MilanNews transcribing his comments.

What will Kyle Walker bring?

“You have shown the list of achievements, I have nothing to add. I saw him on Thursday at Casa Milan and he is a player who wants to win and is used to winning, he will add strength and passion to us.”

Could a major investment in attack arrive, like Santiago Gimenez?

“The January transfer window is always difficult, I’m not sure that in January we will be able to get that reinforcement up front that you are talking about. We’ll see, I just spoke to Furlani, he is the one who deals with these issues.

“But we are certainly very attentive to create a strong Milan. I remind everyone that we have just won a Supercoppa in which no one had us as favourites. We already have the strength, but we want to be that in the league too.”

There are protests against Gerry Cardinale…

“We want the fans to care about the team, Cardinale, the players and the coach also want it. I hope that everyone is behind Milan, with strength and as has been done in the past. We need the support of our fans. I am sure that the fans will listen to us.”
